Its power lies in its ability to influence us without recognition. That is why it can be very useful if programmed sufficiently, or dangerous if left unchecked.

It is a second nature to the thing that you do or say with out thinking.
i believe its very powerful, as they say our brains are most active while sleeping, same with the subconscious you don’t know the potential of what is being absorbed but yet we use it in every day life?

It has the power to make you remember a song you haven’t heard for 10 years! It has the power to make us remember unnecessary things at random moments! But most importantly it helps us remember so much of our life!

It’s power is multitudinous. It has organizing power beyond what most people would deem natural. Yet nearly everything it does besides its most basic and primitive functions (beating your heart, breathing, or other forms permissible multi-tasking) is an after-effect, a correspondant or collateral, to something that has been thought, perceived, or otherwise present in the conscious mind. You have complete control over that ability if only you’ll put will and intention to doing so then follow through with the process of cultivating that faculty..

The answer is unequivocal: read “Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health” by L. Ron Hubbard and you will get the most complete answer. Further than that, it will show what you can do to eradicate it. You can purchase it from any church of Scientology or http://www.bridgepub.com. Believe me, as Hubbard said in this book, you will never be the same again.

freud only used the phrase “subconscious mind” like 3 or 4 times in his entire ouevre. the preferred term among psychoanalysts is the “unconscious” mind. just an fyi : )
the power of the unconscious mind… well, the way i think about it is that the unconscious mind is the power of what we don’t know we know. that’s kind of a mouthful, but it’s true. in our daily experiences, we absorb a LOT. we absorb things that we don’t even realize we do. they enter our unconscious and we act upon them, albeit in subtle ways. for example, body language. when we meet someone for the first time, we judge them according to their body language and overall demeanor, taking into account not only what they say, but how they say it, how they hold themselves, their swagger, their self-confidence, the nuanced expression of personality. what our conscious mind is thinking is “no, that person is not someone i am attracted to” because their body language (and a whole myriad of other factors) have registered in our unconscious, and determining that the person is off putting for some reason. our conscious mind may just think, “no, not my type,” but it is the unconscious that determines that.
an example from pop culture is special agent dale cooper from twin peaks. he uses intuition and his unconscious to solve crimes and figure out mysteries. just think about it in this way: a detective looks over a crime scene and soaks up all the information in front of him. if the solution to the crime is present at the scene, the detective soaks it up, but it might only register unconsciously. david lynch (the creator of twin peaks and a famous director) is an avid proponent of honing in on this unconscious through meditation so that you can better understand it and know the reasons behind your actions and thoughts (and you’ll be able to solve crimes better, too!)
